Britain seeks new leader

After racking up 25 British Championship titles, Matthew Macfadyen has decided, for now, to retire from the UK Championship. The race is now on to see who will replace him. The first stage of the title race, the Candidates', was run by Andrew "the Great Destroyer" Kay, with a perfect 6/6 score. In second place was Felix Wang on 5 wins. Back on 4 wins, another 6 players will go forward to the next stage. Of these, Des Cann, Alex Selby, Nick Krempel and Dave Ward have all made it to the final before. Chong Han and Andrew Simons haven't, but they ought not to be ruled out yet. In unlucky 7th place, losing out on SOS, was Francis Roads.
